National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The Federal Government has introduced a September 30 statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation; it is not a BC provincial statutory holiday. The Partners at Continuum Architecture agree that unresolved Indigenous concerns, specifically the tragic history and legacy of residential schools, are worthy of at least this token of recognition.
As evidenced in countless studies, literature and the media, the negative impact of European settlers on Indigenous land, culture, education, and general living conditions has been enormous and multi-generational.
On that basis, Continuum Architecture will recognize September 30 as the equivalent of a Statutory holiday and close our office, so that we may pause and reflect on this important issue.
